Exclusive - New WALL•E Trailer out with NT2 and New WALL•E Image!

Sorry for the lack of news lately, but I think this will help you forgive me.

This is the first place anywhere to tell you about this great news!

I’m told by one of my sources that theatrical trailer for WALL•E will arrive with National Treasure 2
: Book of Secrets.

My source says: “It’s not attached, but enclosed in the can.” (
I’m not really sure what that means though)

I’m also told that the trailer is a clever, one that keeps the audience guessing, not your normal show it all trailer.

My source also sent me the new WALL•E image above!

So there you have it!

Update: Ben from Animated News helps clarify what “It’s not attached, but enclosed in the can” means:

"In the can" is what it means...it's not on the first reel of the movie, like a Pixar short would be attached to their feature in one loop, but the separate trailer reel is "in the can" with the rest of the film.

This is a gentle way of Disney saying, "hey, run this with the movie", but it's down to the theater if they want to. So some places may run it, some may not.

So it looks like some will see the new trailer with NT2 and some won't. Thanks for the help Ben.

Update: My Experience At The Ratatouille Showing In Austin, TX!

I was fortunate enough to attend an early showing of “Ratatouille” in Austin, Texas on Monday, June 11th at 7:00 p.m.

My dad, sister, and I arrived early to the Alamo Drafthouse in downtown Austin because we wanted to get good seats and we knew all the seats were sold out. When we got there, we were surprised to be the first in line to pick up our tickets. After waiting 45 minutes, we got screened for recording devices. After getting screened, we went over to a table that was serving complimentary ratatouille. Of course, I had to get some and try it for the first time. It was pretty good considering that I don’t like cooked vegetables that well. My dad really liked it and got a second serving.

We were the first people in the theater, so we got to choose great seats in the middle of the theater. Instead of your normal theater that has rows of seats in front of you and behind you, the Alamo Drafthouse is seat up with tables in front of your seats so you can eat a meal. Waiters come by occasionally and get your orders. My sister and I got a pizza that was really good. My dad ate linguini. How cool is it that my dad ate ratatouille and linguini the same night as the movie, “Ratatouille”?

It was 30 minutes until show time after the waiter took our food order. During those 30 minutes, we ate our food and watched some old tv commercials on the theater screen. My dad said that he hadn’t seen any of those commercials since he was a kid.

A guy from “Ain’t It Cool News” introduced the audience to Patton Oswalt (the voice of Remy). Patton said thanks for coming and that this was the only way to get kids to come see “Hostel, Part 2”. Everyone laughed. Patton said that he would do a Q&A session at the end of the movie. Patton then said to enjoy “Ratatouille.” As the lights dimmed, Brad Bird was on the screen and said to the audience at the Alamo Drafthouse that we were one of the first people in the world to see the film and to enjoy the movie! Finally, it was time!

We watched the “WALL- E” teaser trailer first. It was really cool and looked very realistic. The short film, “Lifted” was next. I don’t know how this short film did not win an Oscar. In my opinion, this short film was the best and funniest short film Pixar has ever done. There was non-stop laughing in the theater as it was being shown.

After “Lifted”, it was time for “Ratatouille”. I don’t want to spoil the movie for any of you, so I won’t go into a lot of detail about the movie. “Ratatouille” began with the Pixar animated Disney logo, not the one that has been shown in some tv spots.

In my opinion, this film was probably the funniest Pixar film made yet. It had great animation, great voice acting, great creativity, and great everything else!!! This is the first Pixar film that I heard all of the audience laughing throughout the movie. Kids and adults of all ages were in attendance. My dad even said it was the funniest Pixar film yet. My dad and sister really enjoyed the movie also.

At the end of the movie, 2-D credits rolled. When I was watching the credits, I saw Patton Oswalt at the entrance/exit of the theater. My sister and I grabbed our Ratatouille flyers (that were given to us when we picked up our tickets) and walked over to Patton. I handed him my flyer and a marker and he autographed it! I was so excited that I was shaking. After that, just Patton and I were chatting for two minutes about how cool it was to voice Remy in the movie. Patton noticed that I had an “Incredibles” shirt on. I told him that I have been following “Ratatouille” for over a year and a half. He was surprised and said that was cool. After talking with Patton, I noticed that Janeane Garofalo (the voice of Colette) was standing next to Patton. My sister and I got her autograph as well. We then went back to our seats.

Next, the guy from “Ain’t It Cool News” introduced the audience once again to Patton Oswalt and special guest, Janeane Garofalo for the Q&A session. There were lots of neat questions asked to Patton and Janeane. My sister even asked a question. She asked if this was Patton’s first time to see the entire movie. Patton said that this was his second time to see the entire movie. He said that he saw it a couple weeks ago in San Francisco (I’m assuming that he is referring to the “Ratatouille” wrap-up party that Pixar held there a few weeks ago). During the Q&A session, Patton told us how he made his voice in the big water scene of the movie sound so real. He said that water was really poured on him while recording to make it sound realistic.

After the Q&A session, Patton and Janeane had to go to a different location in Austin to present the “Foot Fist Way” show. As they were leaving, someone asked Patton to autograph their “Ratatouille” poster. Being such a nice guy as he is, he signed it for them. Janeane walked out with the rest of the crowd to her car.

It was then time to leave and go home. I was so tired when I got home that I decided to wait until this morning to write about my exciting night.

Please feel free to leave a comment if you have any questions.

Update:

Here is a video of most of the Q&A session that took place at the Ratatouille screening!

Pixar’s Screening Of Ratatouille Report! And A Great WALL• E review!

ROBONICS95 of Pixar Planet was lucky enough to attend the pre-screening of Ratatouille at Pixar that was talked about earlier in this post. All proceeds from the evening went to the Emery Ed Fund and a whopping $80K was raised according to ROBONICS95's post over at Pixar Planet.

The post doesn't have any spoilers as far as I can tell. ROBONICS95 did get to see the teaser for WALL-E and also saw Lifted and enjoyed both very much. No spoilers there. And about the film itself ROBONICS95 says...

I am not going to spoil the movie but.... Wow! I thought the movie was absolutely incredible.

For a full account of the events before the screening, click here.

[via UpcomingPixar]

I'll most likely have a report myself when I see the film this Monday.

Also ROBONICS95 from Pixar Planet sent me a exclusive review of the WALL• E teaser trailer!

Warning! Spoiler!

ROBONICS95 says:

"It starts (WALL• E teaser trailer) off with Andrew explaining a certain lunch John, Andrew, and the late Joe Ranft had (I believe in Paris). Joe had this idea....than you get a nice "starry night" shot. Then a close up of Wall E picking up and discarding trash, cut to black screen and text that read something like "After 700 years, he now has purpose." He looks up into space with the sweetest eyes you have ever seen and then it cuts to the Wall E logo with an electronic voice in the background (who, I assume, is his) that says "Wall E." With the music and atmosphere of the scenes, it was very climatic.

If WALL E has a voice, it was very distorted but there is no doubt that he says "Wall E" at the end."

Spoiler ends

I just want to says a big thank's to ROBONICS95!

So there you have it!

WALL• E Teaser Trailer Review!

Cinema Blend has short review of the WALL• E teaser trailer!

"Today, before my press screening of Ratatouille, Pixar unveiled their first Wall-E teaser trailer. It begins with an introduction by John Lasseter, in which he talks about the early days of Pixar following the success of Toy Story. Lasseter tells the story of how he, and three others of the company’s founding creative fathers (including tragically deceased Joe Ranft) met to discuss what they’d do after Pixar. They came up with four ideas, three of which eventually became the now classic films A Bug’s Life, Monsters, Inc., and Finding Nemo. The fourth was a favorite of Ranft’s, and that’s Wall-E.

The teaser then shows a brief snippet of footage from the film, with a narrated explanation. The camera pans to show the saddest, tiny robot you’ve ever seen collecting garbage on a flat, empty planet underneath a huge, starry sky. The cute little robot picks up garbage, compresses it, and deposits it in cubes as a narrator talks about how he’s faithfully done his job for 700 years, but never found his true purpose… until now. The robot looks up at the stars, and the title “Wall-E” flashes across the screen, and is then said by a heavily synthesized, sort of squeaky robotic voice which sounds like it’s not used to speaking. This is probably the little robot Wall-E"

Hopefully they will show Lifted and the WALL• E teaser trailer in front of Ratatouille when I see it on Monday.
